A Letter to Prospective and Emerging Clinician Educators.

Abstract
In May 2015, I was honored to receive the Outstanding Educator Award from the American Thoracic Society. I was again honored when I was invited to contribute to the 2016 medical education theme issue of the Annals of the American Thoracic Society. I was asked to describe my journey as a clinician educator while providing advice, and perhaps a little inspiration, to current and future medical educators. Although my journey has been a bit circuitous, I believe and hope that my experiences and the lessons I have learned can be helpful to others who are considering or have chosen to walk this path.
