ABSTRACT
Pioglitazone is a drug used in the management and treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM-2). It belongs to the class of medications called thiazolidinediones. This activity reviews the indications, action, and contraindications for pioglitazone as a valuable agent in managing diabetes mellitus type 2. This activity highlights the mechanism of action, adverse effect profile, monitoring, and relevant interactions necessary for the interprofessional team in treating patients with DM-2.
