Abstract
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) has not been as frequently diagnosed and treated in Europe and North America as in Japan. Therefore, we read with great interest the recent article by Thachil et al. [1]. A significant difference in the definition of cancer-associated DIC between the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) and Japan is the diagnostic scoring system for DIC (Table).
