Abstract
In a response to our recent meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of new oral anticoagulants (NOACs) in patients with cancer-associated acute venous thromboembolism (VTE), Dr. Di Minno and colleagues have focussed on an important issue, that was already put forward in our discussion: are the patients with cancer included in the randomised controlled trials investigating the NOACs representative to those usually seen in clinical practice and previous dedicated clinical trials?
